Certificate of Comparison

Hi

I have a public sector AVC arranged through Cornmarket/Aviva. It was set up in May 2024 and I ceased payments in Feb 2025 (which took three months!) and is currently just below €10,000. I set up a PRSA AVC through Royal London back in March and have been contributing to that since. Since Feb 2025, I have been trying to arrange the transfer of the AVC amount from Aviva to Royal London. Basically it seems to have fallen through the cracks but I understand it is nearly complete. My concern is that it will breach the €10k before the transfer is complete and I will need a Certificate of Comparison.

Just wondering if it does hit €10k can I simply say I no longer want to transfer and leave it with Aviva? I don't think the cost of the Certificate of Comparison is justified where the pot will be a few euro over €10k.

Thanks

If you have provided Aviva with all their requirements to transfer the funds, the value should be frozen from the date they received the last of their requirements.

If you haven't, you can always instruct Aviva to switch you into a Cash Fund which they should do with a couple of days of receiving your instruction.

Liam, thank you very much for coming back to me on this. The cash fund switch is genius and massively reduces the risk of exceeding €10k.
