Ceiling Speakers

Agree, fine for back ground music but not the best idea for a home cinema....

Don't rule it "OUT" yet , What sort of setup is it .. 5.1 or 7.1 ???

You can consider something like "Poficient C1030" Has a tweeter that pivots 30 degres it allows you to direct midrange and high frequencies at the sweet spot "Listening area"
If you want a good In-Ceiling speaker your gona have to pay big bucks for them. The Poficient C1030 is around €3,000 for seven Ideal for a 7.1 setup there aimed more at the High
-end home cinema.

What's your budget I can recommand accordingly ?

Hi AVTEC,

At that price for ceiling speakers, would the OP not be better going for a more traditional discreet wall mount/corner mount ? Personally, I'd be a bit reluctant to cut big holes in my ceiling for speakers (I learn from experience in my own home), and would prefer a small discreet wall or corner mounted speaker.

Yeh small satellite speakers are allways a clear choice, LOL You don't have to cut that big of a hole, in-ceiling speakers range in size from 4-5" to bigger 8-10" of course the bigger the speaker the bigger the power the bigger the sound.

Most In-ceiling speakers just fire's the sound stright down so thats why if your gona be using it for a home cinema you want to be able to pivot the tweeter and/or the bass unit which alot of high end speakers let you do.

Yeah, but 8 years ago the ceiliong speaker range was a bit limited compared to now, which is when I put them in. Still and all, irrespective of the size of the hole, I'd still go for an alternative to ceiling mounts given the choice again.

Can anyone recommend reasonably good quality Ceiling speakers for general music listening (not home Cinema). A couple of years ago when renovating our house we had the wiring and holes put in for ceiling speakers but have not yet got around to buying the speakers

Also I travel to the US regularly on business and was wondering if I should buy the speakers there?

Appreciate any advice....

Hey kelmar,

How many are you looking for & how much of a cavity is there ?? What about a sub is well for some added bass? Speakercraft have a very good line up of in-ceiling speakers. http://www.speakercraft.com

Something Like the "Proficent C790" it has 8" Polypropylene Bass. 1" Pivoting Silk Dome Tweeter, that one is €140 x 1

If you just want them for background music then cheap one's are fine but if you want to listen and enjoy your music a pair of decent in-ceiling speakers will start about 250 euro a pair and go up from there and in the US your wont get them much cheaper for a good set. Also good quality speaker cable will help get the best out of your speakers
