My sister's husband got a gift of the house which they live both live it. It is in his name soley. She wants to have the house in joint names, but he says that to do that they could have to pay back some of the tax he should have paid when the house was gifted to him. Is this right, I thought gifts between husbands and wifes did not trigger any tax liability?
