Hi,
I am a French citizen and I've been teaching French as part of a European initiative in a few primary schools in the Cork area for the last 6 years. because of funding restrictions from the government my hours have been reduced to 2 days a week in february. I got some advice from the school principal and he told me that i would be entitled to casual work payments (that i haven't received yet btw) My concern now is that i am finished with the teaching and will be jobless until september. I informed the SW of this and they said that i should be able to claim the Jobseekers benefit because i have enough points.
Now i'm more confused than ever because I thought that casual work and jobseekers benefit were the same? Does this mean now that i'll be at the bottom of the queue for jobseekers benefit?
thank you for your advice, i couldn't ask them they are lovely but get very flustered on the phone.
