Carers Allowance & Wife losing job

Hi all. I've been getting Carers Allowance for my son and my wife has been working but it looks like she's about to lose her job. I was wondering on how this affects us....will she be able to sign on in her own right or do I have to file a claim for her as well? She doesn't have enough stamps for JB. Thanks in advance.

Your wife can sign for Jobseeker's in her own right - if she doesn't qualify for JB, she may qualify for Jobseeker's Allowance, which is means-tested.

There is no qualified adult dependant rate on Carer's Allowance, so you can't claim anything for her on your claim.

Your wife can claim Jobseekers with you as a qualified adult. You can then claim half-rate carers allowance.
