Career Training

Hi All,

I've spend my career of 15 years in the IT industry and have progressed to the level of managing/leading a team of engineers in the full software development lifecycle. In this time I've progressed from the technical background to taking on more administrative/non-tech responsibilities without any format training, i.e. just hands-on experience.

In looking for a new job, I'm increasingly finding that my responsibilities between the technical and non-technical means I'm a good all-rounder but a master of none, i.e no longer have in-depth hands on knowledge of new technologies and also on the project management side I dont have formal training and experience in say the likes of CMMI, Prince2, SDLC etc.

I'm looking to address the lack of formal training in project management, but am unsure of what approach to take. For example as highlighted there are so many methodologies, which one should I go for? or perhaps find a generic project management training?

I'd appreciate feedback from the wise members of these forums...

Thanks

S.
