Anybody heard from this "friendly family business" ? Guy knocks on the door , gives me great quote for tarmac (2.5" SMA) plus drains and all... I asked about other work he'd done, but it is a bit vague.. this house there and that house there. 5 years guarantee... Quote is about 25% cheaper than a known reputable company.. I am hoping anybody has had any dealings with them...

What's his address? Did he provide a business card? Your description so far has started all the usual alarm bells ringing in relation to such services. Always insist on getting references that you can validate.

He provided me with a leaflet with their name , phone numbers and address is Caragh, Kildare.. The alarm bells did ring, hence my question... It would be nice though to save a few bob... it is indeed unfortunate that you have to be suspicious when it comes to these services...
