Car-Tracking Systems?

We're buying a pretty high performance Subaru car at the moment and have been advised to instal a car-tracking system on the car in addition to having an alarm and of course the inbuilt immobiliser. It's quite expensive plus a small monthly fee to link your mobile phone to a central monitoring station, anyone know if they're worth the expense? or how successful they are?

It's just a thought but I'd say the car-tracking system will only be as effective as the authority charged with retrieving the car, if you get me.
 
Moneypit! I am so jealous. I've just managed to get me a 1.6 impreza. I'm still trying to work the numbers to upgrade. Good luck with the new Scooby! :D
 
Thanks Marge! We're selling our existing 2.0lt turbo (2000) one for a pretty good price in case you're interested and manage to work your numbers out to upgrade :)
