Cannot connect to internet

I have an Acer laptop only 3 months old. I've had 3 mobile broadband for around the same time & have no problems up to last Friday (11th Jan). Since then every time I try to log in I get the message 'connection failure'. However I have tried the modem on a couple of PCs and it worked fine - so obviously my laptop is the problem. I have been in contact with 3 support but despite trying a number of things (uninstalling possible incompatible programs - connecting manually etc) nothing seems to work - in fairness as the modem is working I'm not sure what they can do for me. I haven't installed anything new recently so I'm not sure what could have happened before last Friday that would cause this. Any ideas?

Is this message appearing inside of the '3' software? If that's the case, the problem is not with your laptop.

I think this message can be caused by too many people in your neighbourhood using the '3' data service. I've seen this even when the signal strength would be full-on. Another possibility is that they've lost your account details or you changed some setting within their software.

Can you try it with another PC at the same location & at the same time as the problem?

Have you tried it in different locations (e.g. other towns?)

Managed to connect again by going into system restore & restoring my laptop to an earlier time. This worked for both my usual location & a different location away from home. Not sure that this has solved the problem or simply bypassed it but its been working fine since yesterday. I suppose the reason I assumed it was the laptop is that I tried in on a PC in the same location & it worked when it wouldn't on my laptop.
Thanks for the reply.
