Can you change your user name?

Is it possible to change your user name without re-registering as a new member and would this alter the user-name shown in your own historic postings?
 
No, a user can't change their user name.

I can change if for users, but it's time consuming and we only do it if the poster has a very good reason.

It does change the names on historic posts. But I don't think it changes the quotes of those posts.
