Can spouse rent out house in her name only?

Hi all, hoping someone can confirm the answer to the below.

Husband and wife married a good few years now, husband bought what is the family home before he met / married his wife. They now want to rent out the house.

Can the wife rent out the house in her name and file and pay the tax in her name? The wife has not been put on the deeds since they married or anything like that.
 
How can she rent out the house in her name if he owns it?

The rent is his income from his house.
 
Thanks Joe I suppose what's confusing them is if they were to divorce it would be considered their house, the family home, not his house and he could not go ahead and sell it or do anything with it or is that wrong to?

If he put wife on the deeds could she then rent it in her name or would it have to be a 50:50 split of the rental income?
 
She can't rent out his share.

Beware of mortgage interest if transferring an interest to a spouse, it's not allowable.
