Can person on JSA take up job on BTWEA Scheme.

Can a person currently on Jsa wishing to take up employment under the B T W E A scheme as a self employed sole trader ie Taxi Driver, do so under current legislation. i beleive the period of the scheme has now been cut from 2 yrs from original 4 yrs. anyone shed some light of this issue for a non computer literate person please ? as the Dept Social Protection site doesnt elaborate on the scheme ?

The business must be approved by the local jobs facilitator before starting, and you must register as self-employed with Revenue.

Taxi drivers have been granted BTWEA in the past, so it's not excluded as a category - entitlement will depend on the business plan presented to the jobs facilitator.

The scheme lasts for 2 years as you have said.
