Hello there,
We were married in Jan 2008.
My other half was PAYE and i was combination of self-employed(half yr) and PAYE(half year).
I stupidly asked for separate assessment when filing my income tax for 2008, not knowing the benefits of joint assessment.
Now i realised that we will be due a refund for 2008 if we go under joint assessment .
Can i still ask the revenue to review us for joint assessment, going back to year 2008? I was told that it might not be possible as everything has already been dealt with by end of 2009? If a review for 2008 is possible, how should i go about that?
Many thanks!

Just ring tax office and ask them to combine two assessment into joint from date of marraige

Yes you can, Please follow link for explananation. Normal in year of marraige which for you was 2008 people are treated as single but this is a formula to calulate of due a refund from date of marraige
