Hi,
I bought my first house less than 5 years ago and received the now abolished First Time Buyers grant. I now want to sell and buy a different house. Do the Revenue come looking for the Grant back because I havent lived in the house for a full 5 years or is this a myth?

Thanks.

The FTB grant has nothing to do with Revenue. It was paid by the Department of Environment. It is not reclaimed in the situation described above. Perhaps your are mixing it up with the stamp duty clawback rule outlined in (which doesn't apply here either as long as your house was never rented out other than under the rent a room scheme)?

One of the conditions of the first time buyers grant was that you use the house purchased as your primary residence for a minimum of 5 years. I recall something in the application form that it could be reclaimed if you sold the house within that time frame. I don't know to what extent they actually follow up on this.
