can anyone open your post

I wonder does that change if the post is addressed to you but at your place of employment.

I remember a colleague whose Dad passed away and a customer sent a card to her in the post. Even though it was obvious from the outside what it was, someone else in the office opened it, put it back in the ripped open envelope and left it on her desk. There was some row that day, I can tell you.

thanks for that. the letter was addressed to me but sent to my parents address. it was taken from there by my sibling and passed on to a third party. i am not sure at the moment which of them opened it. Just wanted to make sure of the law first. thanks again
