Just a query,
Child is a named benificary, of a sum of money. Can the parent invest it on their behalf? or what is the best route to take?

Maybe check out bare trusts.
There are some threads here on Askaboutmoney about them.
And info available online elsewhere too.

Is the child under 18?

I ask as lots of parents refer to their offspring as their children even though they are adults.

Good point.
I just assumed that we were dealing with minors here but that's not obvious from the original post.

I recently was involved with a probate with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. For underage beneficiaries, the parents bank account details were acceptable for payment. Don't banks allow parents to open accounts for their children?
