Calculation of share purchase price

I waived some of my rights in the Bank of Ireland rights issue thus triggering a gain/loss. In my instance a loss.

I acquired shares over over many years apart from my initial purchase I availed of rights issues and took shares in lieu of dividends.

What is best method, other than trawling through whatever share certs and correspondence I can lay my hands on, of calculating the purchase price of these shares in order to arrive at the amount of the loss incurred?

p.s. matters a complicated by fact that BofI did a share split at time of rights and may have done others

Strictly I don't think that you have any option other than to trawl through your stuff and work out the effective or actual acquisition prices for the different shares. Note also that FIFO rules etc. may come into play here. Have you looked at the Revenue guide to CGT in case that helps?

Are you registered with Computershare web site ? They provide very good historical data on share purchase, sales, rights issues and dividends in relation to Bank Of Ireland shares. Easy enough to register with them.
Website is www-uk.computershare.com. Actually you may only have this facility if you have DEALT through computershare. Not sure. Try and register and see what happens
