Buying curtains online

I have 3 rooms that have windows that are 2.5 metres long. Its almost impossible to find choice out there for pre-made curtains so I am interested in this too! I find there is some choice if you are going for a pole but I need tracks. Anyone know where I should look for voile for these windows as well?

In saying all that, I recently discovered that Ikea curtains are all 3m in length and very nicely priced so if you can find something there that you like it could be well worth it to get you up and running! I bought some for my spare room but they will still need work to convert them to pencil pleats to hang on tracks and to sew all the panels together to make up the width needed.

With regard to tracks, should that be something I can get the curtain shop to put up?

###Update ###
Just to let you know I eventually chickened out of ordering curtains on line. I found a fabric I liked and went to a tiny fabric shop in our nearby town. And lo and behold spotted the fabric I had been looking at in Clearys a week previous. I got the following, 2x3ft, 1x7ft, 1x 5ft all to rads, and one full length pair for french doors for €2000. This price included, french pleat, linings, rails, installation of rails and the hanging of the curtains by the owner, who is a really lovely woman. Anyone in the Northeast looking for curtains then please pm and I'll give you the details. Totally thrilled with my dressed windows!

With the great availability of readymade curtains these days - and great quality - is there any need to do it on-line? As for expense - I think the prices quoted are very high - it's bits of material sewn together for goodness sake!

Its all fine if you have standard sized windows. There are bucket loads of readymade curtains available. The problem is if you don't. I have windows that need curtains about 2.5m long. All the windows in my apartment are like that. Take Harry Corry's for example. Lots of nice curtains there. Out of the whole shop, about 10 types are long enough for me....add that I need the pleated ones rather than rails and I am down to a choice of literally two. Neither of which were anyway suitable so its very difficult. If you know somewhere that has great availability in the longer lenghts....definitely let us know!!!

I have the same problem. Two large windows with a 95" X 120" . House of Frasier have 50% off some frabics and makeups at the moment. I could do the two windows for about €1,000.

Hickeys also have a sale on but it's not quite as good because their charge for making seems higher.

Has anyone used any of the Abbey Street shops to get curtains made up - I'm thinking Boyers, Duffys. Anyone any experience of prices - not for readymades, windows too large.
