Does anyone know if there is a law stating what time heavy ie: kango drilling etc building work is allowed to start in the mornings especially at weekends?
Our next door neightbours have builders in at the moment doing a massive extension. This weekend at 7:30 on both saturday and sunday they started with this incessant drilling and it carried on til 6pm ion the evenings. I understand that the builders are just doing their jobs but I think that this is too early to start this noise!
I rennovated my house a couple of years ago. I fully understood the neighbours inconvenience with the noise. Planning permission states that this work can be done from 8 pm - 6pm Monday to Friday and Sat Mornings 8-1. You could check the times with your local council. There is no way they'd green light a 7.30 am start in a residential area.
I think you are being very understanding. I got a lot of grief from my neighbours over the 8am starts which I had to proove to them was in line with pp. My builders also didn't work Fri afternoons or Saturdays.
I know from experience how hard it is to control builders - especially subcontractors of the main builders (plumbers etc) - and despite repeated requests to my builders not to start before 8am they sometimes started at 7.55 and I got texts and calls from my neighbours!
I reckon the builders in your case are pushing you to see how much they'll get away with. Once you confront them (or preferably your neighbour) they'll probably start working within the pp guidelines but until then they'll continue to wotk all hours. The other option is to call your local authority planning office and tell them the hours the builders are working
Thanks for clarification. I wouldnt dream of complaining to the builders really, they are just lads doing their job but I wasnt as forgiving at 7:30 saturday morning. I mean even 8am on a saturday morning is very early in my opinion, it may be within the law but its still not ver fair when people are working all week. oh well, ill invest in ear plugs next weekend
