I was with EBS for years, and used a savings account as my day to day a/c. This was as close as EBS got to having a current a/c facility.
They provide an ATM card that can only be used with AIB ATMs, don't provide laser cards to new customers, don't allow direct debits from new savings accounts, don't issue cheque books and you can't lodge coins with them. I also had problems lodging a Euro cheque that was drawn on a bank in the UK (their computer system didn't recognise the coding, so the cheque was refused), and they don't do foreign currency.
