building a house extension!

Hi Guys,

I am thinking of building an extension on the side of my house and the bank agreed to lend me the money, can someone please tell me what are the steps I should go through, I have it all in my mind but where next? the amount of lending will decide the size of the build, so should I go to architect first or QS and what next?, I have absolutely no idea at all this. can someone that has done it before, please tell me?

Can't help you on where to go first, but one of the first things is to read up on the planning process. You need planning permission to build to the side of your house. And that takes time. The professional you employ, e.g. the architect, can perform this process as part of the job.
