BT Corded Landline

Howdy, can anyone let me know if this should work with an Eircom landline? Its bt branded. The mother bought one and I expected it would just be a plug in and go job. Stuck the batteries in and plugged the phone line into it, but nothing, no dial tone etc. Any suggestions?

bt use a different type plug/jack .to fit to an irish socket,you use an adapter on the plug lead.

Argos should have given you the adaptor - well at least they used to give you an adaptor a couple of years ago if you bought a BT phone.
