Broadband expansion

Hi, I've recently heard that long awaited broadband is due to land in my town. Does this mean that I can get broadband with any provider or will it be "owned" by Eircom or whoever? Does anyone know if there is a website or somewhere that I can check the broadband status in my area?

If Eircom upgrade the exchange you should be able to purchase from any of the providers who resell the Eircom service (BT, etc.).
