Hi,

Anybody heard about this conference? It appears that everybody can go for free so I'm wondering what the catch is. Anyone ever on the course before?

It appears to a motivational type conference. Maybe they just try and sell you DVD's at it!

Howard is a very powerful user of NLP. Just leave your credit card at home, otherwise you won't be 'encouraged' to buy any of the materials afterwards!

Your post made me curious so I decided to Google variations of "Breakthrough to Success", "Christopher Howard", seminar, conference, catch etc. to see what I could find out.

There were thousands of hits in my searches, and I glanced at a lot of them, took me 2 glasses of wine to do it! Bar one person having a negative comment about the last part of the seminar, everyone seems to rave about it. So much so that I'm half (well, quarter maybe) tempted to book a place - assuming one is available - but the sceptic in me keeps announcing "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is".

Would love to know what the downside is. There has to be one, right?

Yes, I am assuming there is a downside. The event goes from 9 AM to 10.30 PM on Friday and Saturday and 9 to 6 on Sunday. Maybe they try to wear you down and try to get money out of you at the end of the night.

I reckon it must be a pure numbers game. If they manage to get 1,000 people at the event they know that a certain percentage will buy the DVD's etc.

I'm tempted to take the off work and go to-morrow. If it's no good then I'll just head home.

Remember, it could be a life changing experience!!!!!

Does anyone have any more info on 'Breakthrough to Success'?

I received an email about it recently and am really curious about it. In my opinion it seems really suspicious that they advertise the price everywhere as €1,200 but it seems you can always get a free ticket!? They are hiring the RDS for their next seminar so they're obviously spending a lot of money on it.

Anyone any firsthand experience of this? Anyone hear any bad stories about it? It's the money bit that intrigues me - if they are willing to give away free tickets to value of €1200 what do they hope you'll do to make it worth their while?

Yes it is NLP. Interesting that your link is from the skeptic website. So many people seem to embrace NLP? I'm just surprised that there aren't more critics out there. Lack of regulation around psychology/coaching/counselling in Ireland makes it hard for people to evaluate anything.
