If your contract state's that you have to give 4 weeks notice but your dream job has been offered to you, but they need you to start in 2 weeks time. Can one just say this is my notice sorry and all that but I can't miss out on this offer( around 20K more). Working there about 8 years.

IMO you new company should wait the 4 weeks - how would they like it if someeone did that to them.

Are you due any holidays? Say you had 2 weeks due then you would only have to work 2 weeks and then leave. However I'm not 100% sure this is correct, others may be able to confirm or not.

It is my brother who has been offered this job, The new company can't wait the 4 weeks, so he will leave within 2 weeks after talks this morning with his boss.He will leave with bad vibes but He explained to his boss that he cant pass up this chance. This job is as good as for life and only comes up every few years.

These things happen. As you say, it's an opportunity that only comes up every few years. He should grab it with both hands. His boss should understand, and if he doesn't then it's a shortcoming on his part. What's the difference between 2 and 4 weeks when he's leaving anyway. He can always help his old boss outside of working hours for a couple of weeks afterwards if he feels that bad about it.

If your brother has a responsible position, I am surprised that they did not tell him to go immediately. And this is the case your brother should present to his old boss on Tuesday morning.
