we have recently gotten planning permission to build and just want to know apart from mortgage repayments, life assurance, home insurance, what else is needed?

To start of with:

Solicitors Fees - searches, land registry etc
Architect Fees - overseeing, plans, retention, BER cert etc
County Council contributions and retention fees if necessary
Valuation fee - for bank
Contingency - VERY imporant. Make sure you have one and stick to budget as much as possible. Source things yourself and liaise daily with your builder/architect/project manager.
ESB set up fees

Best of luck. Feel free to pm if you want any more info.

Dont forget Insurance in particular Public Liability.

We built a house in Kildare and had an Experienced Engineer
supervise stages and complete Certification. He also
gave great advice on heating and finishes.

Cost €2,400 . Money well spent.

Newbridge09 would you mind PMing the engineer details to me? Just getting started with a self build in the Kildare area.
