I am hoping for some advise
We moved in to our house 6 months ago.
To set the picture: Our neighbours have a hedge running the lenght of our front garden and the front of their garden.
The hedge is about 8 ft or more in places and the front has overgrown the public path. It also has about 3 trees growing up though it.
It runs pretty much along the boundary line.
When we moved in we trimmed our side and tidied up the top on our side.
Since then the hedge has continued to grow and is now in BAD need of a trimming. It is reaching up to our bedroom window on the second floor and takes away much of the morning/afternoon light.
Since our neighbours obviously do not look after this hedge, judging by the height and the fact it takes up the public pathway totally ,we feel that a wall would be much more suitable and less maintance for all parties.
Also this could be a problem every year as mother nature will continue to grow!!
We dont ever see these neighbours and have spoken to them a handful of times.
My question is how would you approach this with the neighbours?
How would you ask them if they would be willing to remove the bush and build a wall?
BTW - We are willing to pay fully for the removal of the hedge and also to build the wall are we mad?
