Hi,
Own an apartment which is c. 20 years old in a block of 10 apartments, and we have just received a quote of 800 Euros to hook up each apartment to Bord Gais supply, i.e. 8,000 Euros in all. This is not including plumbing etc, just the gas line in from the street and the boxes on the wall.
We received a quote of 2,500 Euros a week ago to supply all ten apartments provided all 10 signed up for gas, but since some people are not in a position to install plumbing etc straight away, we couldn't guarantee that all ten would join up. Maybe 3-5 right now, with more coming on stream over the next few years. So now, they're quoting 800 Euros each. Gas is on the street, so surely once the gas line is brought in, the cost to hook up should not be anything like this. Essentially, they want 8,000 Euros to hook everyone up over time, but using the same gas line.
I've written to Bord Gais to explain/complain.
Has anyone else come across this kind of thing?
Who else should I contact about this?
