We connected to Bord Gais approx 2 years ago and even though we were paying by DD we had to pay a deposit of €200. I was told that it was standard practice and that it would be return after a few direct debits were paid - I can't remember exactly how many.
Anyway, we never got the deposit back and I had completely forgotten about it until yesterday. I rang their customer service and it'll be paid back to me in next 10 days. I don't think I'd ever have gotten it back if I didn't ring them.
