Hi all

I am thinking of getting that bonded bead cavity wall insulation work done on my house. I am based in the cork area. Has anyone any recommendations of who would do it?

Thanks

Thanks Sueellen

I managed to get on to two companies - Polypearl and another guy Home Insulation Systems (Bruff). Both quotes are in or around the same price. Has anyone dealt with either of these companies before?

Hi Ned_ie,

Check that these companies and their products are approved by the IAB

obviously this depends on the width of the cavity, but most quotes ive seen were roughly in the region of 1 euro per sq ft...

I've had 2 Quotes this week re bead insulation. 1st €937 and the second €850. its a standard 1100ft2 3bed semi with bay window.

Is the €850 quote reasonable? or should it be cheaper. The grant of €400 will mean €450 cost to me.

(Still waiting for a plumber to call to quote for heating control upgrade so I'll quallify for over €500 grant)

The 1st quote also give a price €613 to insulate attic with 150mm roll insulation. I had not asked for this quote as I insulated aattic myself before christmas with 170mm rolls for total price of €142.

Check out the SEI approved contractors list and you may even be eligible for the grant.

Just booked a contractor today (based in Tuam but cheaper than the Cork Lads) to do Both Attic & Cavity insulation for my house at a total cost of €1315 including VAT and with a grant of €650 I will pay €665.

I decided to go ahead and get extra 150mm ontop of the 150mm I previously laid myself last christmass time. This way I can qualify for the minimum €500 grant draw down.

I am still waiting for prices back to do the heating control upgrade element. Obviously plumbers aren't interested in work as the 5 contractors I contacted have yet to get back to me to give me a price.

The Contractor I decided to go with today does the heating control element too but will be 2 weeks before they can send someone out to give me a price.
