Boiler stove heating system

We moved into our new house before christmas. It's heated with an condensing oil boiler and an inset stove with a back boiler (Stratford EB12i HE Boiler Stove).
The hope was that the stove would heat the downstairs radiators with the oil boiler there for boost and timer controlled heating.
However for the stove to heat the radiators it has to heat the hot water (for the taps) first and it then switches to the radiators (it seems this is the way boiler stove systems are plumbed). This takes quite a bit of time and fuel. A thermostate on the tank can be set to zero which makes the system "think" the water for the taps has reached its temperature, switching the hot water from the stove to the radiators.
Is there any way the system can be set so the hot water from the stove goes only to radiators or to the radiators first?
