Job Overview
The Minister for Social Protection invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill five vacancies on the Board of the National Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings Authority (NAERSA).
Board members to be appointed to NAESRA will be expected to demonstrate that they have qualifications, knowledge, and experience that are relevant to the operation of NAERSA. Individual Board members will not be expected to be able to demonstrate all of the required skills. Therefore, the Minister shall, in making appointments take account of the mix of skills available among candidates such that the Board as a collective can possess the full range of skills.
Essential
In accordance with the provisions of Section 11 of the Act, the Minister, in appointing members to the Board, shall have regard to the desirability of their having knowledge connected to:
• the functions of NAESRA
• organisational governance, management, financial administration and financial investment.
The Minister shall also ensure that:
• one member will be a person who has, in the Minister’s opinion, knowledge or experience in matters relating to the interests of employees and
• one member will be a person who has, in the Minister’s opinion, knowledge or experience in matters relating to the interests of employers.
Accordingly, candidates must demonstrate in their application evidence of experience at an appropriately senior level in at least one of the following areas:
• Executive experience (including, but not limited to, executive experience in the public service, financial, communications, accounts or pensions administration sectors),
• Pension fund experience (with emphasis given to managerial experience)
• Investment experience (operational and/or strategic)
• Corporate strategy / business development
• IT / Technology / Cyber security
• Customer service operations
• Risk management and oversight
• Actuarial analysis
• Legal / regulatory matters
• Employer / employee relations
• Governance / public policy experience
Candidates will more generally be expected to have strong analytical and communication skills, to have integrity and the ability to work collegially, and an ability to understand financial data and good governance principles.
