Got a notice in the post yesterday asking me to make an appointment with this crowd for a health screening. It seems to cover everything and is only €149. Am a bit skeptical - sounds too good to be true. Has anyone used this service?

Hi, Yes, I used them a few years ago for ultrasound checks. They're fine but it's all part of a 'scare 'em up and test everything psyche' that is prevalent now. Your GP can probably get a much more rounded picture of your health for much less. I would not bother again. Slim

Basically they have a standard offer of a few different check ups that don't require much specialist kit (taking blood samples, blood pressure, etc), as already pointed out, nothing your GP couldn't do. At the end of it you get a glossy brochure style report of their findings and the option of calling their doctorline to discuss any questions you have. Got the option of booking one of their check ups through work so I used it. They book a hotel for a day in a location and generally they have some appointments prebooked through sales schemes to corporate bookers like my one and then have slots available to hawk to the local populace so they do a mail drop around the location to drum up a few more appointments. It is a UK based outfit, though the tests here are processed in Ireland at MedLab in Sandyford. I had a bit of a run around the houses with them over the urine sample and the report though (and I know I am not the only one) so I won't be bothering repeating the experience. It wasn't bad, they were professional and courteous and seemed to know what they were about up to the point where they screwed up but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary.
