Blinking laptop screen
Hi guys,
I bought a laptop just before christmas and it started to blink 2 days after using it.It has happened about 20 times since - but now when it blinks the whole screen goes and Ican't see anything. Is there a problem with the laptop or is there something Ican do about it? More than likely i'll have to bring it back to where I purchased it from for them to take a look at it.

Could be a loose connection - often a ribbon cable under the keyboard and running to the screen via the screen hinge. What make/model? If it's under warranty it might be simplest to call support.

I bet it's a Dell. When you are low on battery the newer Dells screen will flash.

Never seen that. Are you making that up?

I have had a number of D620s and other Latitude's pass through my hands and they all blink on low battery. Perhaps it's due to an application or security setting we have on them.

I've had a few Dells whose screens blinked but always because of a loose ribbon cable from the display adaptor to the screen.

Laptop is a Toshiba, thanks for the reply.
What model? Have you Googled for known issues with this one? As I said, if it's new then it might be simplest to have this dealt with under warranty.

I recieved a Dell laptop for Christmas and have a similar problem to this, the screen just goes blank for about a second and then comes back on.
When I checked in my settings for the power save menu and there was something about screen refersh or soemthing, I can find out exactly what it was when I get home tonight and I'm sitting at it if that helps.

I've never seen that with a D620 or any Latitude's we have unless its a faulty backlight or displaced cable. Maybe its a falut with those models or something.

Hey clubman,
Quick message before loose screen again. It's a Toshiba P200 series(Satellite P200 - 1EE).By the way it happens both when the power cord is plugged in and out.

Have googled, don't seem to be any known issues with this particular model.

My Dell M1210 goes beserk when I unplug it from mains electricity - whole screen flickers so much you can barely make out the colours and shapes on the screen. I need to do a Fn Ctrl F8 (as if connected to a projector) to sort it out - a couple of times. That solves the prob.
