Bio-Cycle Unit: Is the €200 annual service charge worth it? or can I do it myself?

Hi All,

I built recently and instead of a septic tank I was required to but in a waste water treatment bioi-cycle unit. It cost about 5k and the service cost about €200. Now I am being asked to pay another 200 for next years service. Does anyone know do these units need and annual sevice or is it something that could be every 2 years or a filter replaced by myself?

Thanks for any suggestions or experience in this area.

Waste of money ... I have one 10 years and only emptied it once.

Local farmer did the honours!

strictly speaking, planning permission usually requires annual service. Weather it "needs" one or not is a matter of opinion.

A number of factors:
1. Size of system and 2. Number in the family.

However, my advice would be to wait till it needs to be done.

YOU will know when it requires a service!!!

Not sure my wife would be too keen on the wait until its done option!

If she ain't willing to wait .... do the annual service.

But it will be an expensive solution.

did u ask what you are getting 200 euros? to give a look at the pump and air pumps?? 50 euros would be a more appropriate fee..

200 euro is cheap, they are asking me for 275 euro for next years service, threatening that the cost will be high if contract is not in place and the unit breaks down. Are there any independent (non biocycle) service folk who service biocycle units?
