How does the benefit in kind work in relation to health insurance? I'm a paye worker and the BIK is put in as a payment to me of 16 euro and is adding to my gross wage yet I'm not getting the take home pay to reflect. To demonstrate Gross pay= 516 (including BIK of 16 euro)
Deductions= 80 (including health insurance of 7 euro)
Take home= 420

This doesn't add up and I can't make sense of it. Any help would be appreciated.

See [broken link removed]. You pay tax/PRSI on the BIK but also qualify for a tax credit in respect of the contributions which you must apply for and obtain via your statement of tax credits. See also this thread.

If you did not reclaim the tax credit in 2005, can you claim now.
Would they issue a monetary refund
My family is on my Employer paid Bupa. I paid 160 BIK per month for 2005 and now again 2006

You mean Revenue? They probably would issue a refund cheque alright. You can claim back tax overpaid for the previous 4 tax years.
