I need to calculate the BIK I should be paying for the following:

Van Value = 22,000
Travel over 30K mls per annum

Van has to be kept at my home as it is the base for my travel.

I do personal mileage but it is minimal.

I do know that you can keep a van at home (without BIK) but personal mileage has to be prohibited. How do they figure this out?

Any suggestions welcome.

Private use of company vans are exempt from BIK if the van is required in the performance of your duties in work and has to be left at your home at night and lastly you spend at least 80% of your time away from your emplyers premises.
as you mentioned you do private mileage which would effect the BIK exemption therefore i think you would take your private mileage as a percentage of total mileage and BIk would be charged on that percentage taking 30% of the value of the van
a suggestion would be to not use your van for personal use therefore the BIK exemption would apply

lastly the regulations on BIK changed recently (2004) it is now your employers obligation to account for and deduct paye in respect of a BIK from your salary not the employees responsibility
