Best savings accounts?

I have a simple question but would really appreciate any advice.
I've saved about 40,000 in a bank account that I now realise is paying me a pathetic rate of interest (less than 1 per cent).
Where should I put my money to maximise my interest? I don't want to take any risks at all, I just want to know that it's safe and is earning me a little bit extra every day.
I have a vague idea that the best thing to do is save 10,000 with Rabo Direct (because that's the cut-off point for the high rate of interest) and put the rest somewhere else. But I don't really know. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
M

There are loads of threads on this sort of stuff.
10K in Rabo @ 4.75%

The rest in Northern Rock and filtered into the various regular savings products.
40K is a lot to just have on deposit. You should get some independent advice on pensions and investments.
