Best Feather Duvets to get.

I'm looking to purchase some new duvets and had been looking at some over the last few days. Looking for the feathered ones.
Just wondering which are best, goose down or duck down or a mixture or what others are there.
Don't want ones where the feathers will all head to the one corner. Any suggestions please.
 
I have a duck down duvet and love it - it was expensive around €150 in a sale, but in my opinion well worth it. It's very light and warm at the same time. The goose feather duvets are cheaper, but you can feel the feathers. A combination of both may be a good alternative.

Most duvets are divided into pockets so there is no problem with feathers ending up at one end.

I know they are expensive but have the money put by for them. I'm also aiming to pick them up in the sale - few going on around town at the moment.

One other thing, I alternate between a summer and winter duvet at present, do you need to also do this with the feather ones too?
 
I bought one in the sales last year, i think it was called a four seasons duvet. It came in 2 duvets that clip together when required, one is 4.5 tog and the other is 9tog. So Spring is 9tog, summer is 4.5 tog, autumn is 9 tog and for winter you clip them together for 13.5tog...neat and simple!
 
Half price in home store and more at the moment. Bought a white duck feather, King size for around €39 last week. Stayed in a friends house a few weeks ago and remarked on how comfy the duvet was, she had bought it there. Not a lot of money well spent so far. No connection by the way. dont generally shop there at all. LS.

In my opinion yes - although the duck down is light, it is still very warm. We stuck with the 13.5 tog for the summer, but next year I'll buy a lighter one.
 
Emmt can you tell me if there is any hassle with the two duvets when you have them together? Such as them coming apart in the cover?
I had a good look around today, couldn't decide between all the makes, Dorma, Snugglesomething, nimbus et al. not much difference in price.
Another thing was the mix of down and feather which is it better to have moer off if anyone knows thanks.
 
The higher the % of down in the duvet the more expensive they usually are,
Goose is rated higher than Duck down.
I find the down duvet temp seems about right,whether summer or winter

hi, i got all my duck down all season ones on irish times website, much cheaper than rest, try tk maxx also, but all season is the way to go, no hassle, never unclipped not even once and i have them all on my boys beds ages 4 - 10 with lots of messing going on and never interfered with duvet !! investment !!!!!

No probs at all with the two duvets together. The only minor gripe I have is that its difficult to get the damn things to clip together in the first place but this will prob get easier with use. There are press-studs keeping them together - one at each corner

The bro-in-law has duvets with silk fillings at his place down in the south of France and also at the place in Switzerland; cool enough for the one in summer and warm enough for the other in winter. He says he can't remember where he bought them or how much they cost.

BillK I did read about the silk ones too.
I still haven't got them as I haven't had a chance to get to the shops.
