Hi guys, anyone any info on phoning from Spain to Ireland. I have a pre pay phone and it cost me a fortune to send and receive texts and receive a couple of phone calls.
Had to get a friend to top up my credit twice for a 10 day holiday. Feel I am being totally ripped off. maybe there is some clever clogs out there who can outwit these robbers.
Personally I don't think there are any good deals for roaming calls so I buy a €10 call card and use the public pay phones. That €10 gets you 60 mins of call back to Ireland.
Thanks askalot, I have used call cards and they are great for land line calls, but it would be so handy to use mobile sometimes and not pay a fortune to receive and send calls/texts.
If you travel to spain often it might be worth buying a spanish sim card and put it in your phone. Just have to make sure that your phone is unlocked.

I spoke with someone recently who signed up with skype and figured out how to just find wireless hotspots to make virtually free calls. might be worth looking into
I bought a Spanish sim card when I was over there. It is called "Happy". I was in a phone shop and I met an english man there who told me that Happy were the cheapest for Land Line calls. The cost is 6cent per min plus 35cent connection fee. I usually use my Irish phone for texts home. But if you want to have a long call then "Happy" is best. My other half also has a spanish phone and we use them to get in touch with each other when we go off alone. No charge for the texts between "Happy" customers!!
