Bed bugs

Hi all - I have 2 rooms rented out in my house and I recently discovered that I have bed bugs. I had them in one room and I threw out the bed and mattress and bought new ones. However this morning the person in the other room said they have been bitten recently, and when I looked under his matress I saw one on the frame of the bed, a little brown thing.

So I'm wondering

- is dumping the bed, mattress, and bedclothes enough or should I call in a pest control company?
- does anyone know of a reliable pest control company?

Cheers,
Ciaran.

watched a show on bbc3 recently, they can be hard to get rid of, the can hibernate for a year and revive themselves when someone sleeps in the room again something to do with the air we expel wakes them up. They said to scrub the room all nooks and crannies, they don't just stay in the bed, you can get pest control in to freeze the place to help or they can use a pesticide, they advised putting double sided sticky tape on the legs of the bed or around the corners of the matress and basically use yourself as bait and sleep in the bed, they will stick to the tape so you'll kow they are still there.

You may find something useful on .

used to call out and give a free quote but not sure if they still provide this service. You could give them a call.

found this link to the episode (its episode 2) [broken link removed] if you email them you might be able to download and watch it.

Ok thanks for the replies. Got a quote of between 700 & 1100 euro from rentokil, and another quote from a different company for 400 + vat. Is this something a person can do themselves i.e. buy the pesticide and spray skirting, bed frame, etc. Would anyone know of a spray/pesticide to do the job?

A lot of those sprays are dangerous and you would probably need the protective clothing also.

Bought set of vacuum packed sheets in Dublin store recently. Sheets had bed bugs when opened. Anybody had similar experience?
