Becomming an accountant

Most related courses will give you some kind of exemptions, you can find them out on the institute website. I'm doing CIMA so I don't know the specifics of ACCA

But i guess what i am really looking for is a course that will give me a good grounding in the various nuances of accountancy, and that would also count towards some exams. Its an area that really interests me at the moment and a evening course approx 1 year long would really interest me.

To cut a long story short is there any course that people out there would recommend based on hearsay / past experience?
