A quick query on critical illness. I read on another post that in the event of a claim the bank gets paid rather than the person who has being paying for critical illness cover. Is this true? . I can't understand it. Could someone please explain it to me .
Thanks

I presume when you take out the policy it is assigned to the bank. That means that in the event of a pay out the bank gets what you owe first.

in effect, you are getting the benefit of the cover-if you become critically ill,the bank is paid the sum outstanding on your mortgage, leaving you mortgage free.

mmm. Maybe, maybe not.

Some policies will provide a lump sum to pay off all or part of the mortgage

Other polices will pay out a monthly sum to pay off all or part of one months mortgage repayment until the person recovers.
