Bank Holidays - Part time

Hello

I've been working 3 days per week (permanent employee) for the past 15 months. I've always been a part time employee for this compnay.

My days vary from time to time (Tuesday/Thursday/Friday) or (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) always my choice.

Someone mentioned to me I should get some hours or pay for bank holidays even if I'm not meant to work that day. At the moment I don't get a day for the bank holiday or pay, I just work 3 other days in that week.

I've been looking online but I'm a bit confused.

Thanks,

Bank Holiday - Part Time

Hi Judithe,

From citizen advice website. Hope this helps!
Part-time employees

If you have worked for your employer at least 40 hours in the 5 weeks before the public holiday and you are due to work on a public holiday you are entitled to that day off as paid leave or one of the alternatives as listed above. If you are not required to work on that particular day you should receive one-fifth of your weekly pay instead of the actual day's leave. Even if you may never be rostered to work on a public holiday you are entitled to one-fifth of your weekly pay as compensation for the public holiday.
