Back to work Enterprise Allowance

I was made redundant in 2011 and when my jobseekers benefit ran out I didn't apply for jobseekers allowance (local social welfare had said I would only be entitled to a very small amout...couple of euro) as my husband was working. I decided to just sign for credits (probably a mistake)

I have now just bought a franchise and will be working for myself from July 1st. I wonder if I am entitled to the back to work enterprise allowance or will I be excluded as I am not receiving a social welfare payment :( Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

I doubt that you would be entitled to it, it is a continuation of your existing payment and as you don't have one then I don't see how it would work. As well as that you need to have applied for it and submitted a business plan etc for approval before you start your business.

Each social welfare office will have someone who deals with the BTEA or you could call Citizens Information office.
