I purchased AVC's over the past number of years and have had to retire early at 60 due to ill health. My pension from work is approx €100 per week and I also get disability benefit of €185.80. My lump sum from my work pension scheme used up 90% of my tax free entitlement ( one and a half times my annual salary). I have now discovered that I cannot put my AVC's into an ARF as I do not have a guaranteed income of €12,700 (disability benefit does not qualify) The AVC provider says that my only option is to invest in an AMRF or take a pension ( which is €64.00 a month !!) If I invest in an AMRF I cannot take out anything until I reach 75. My AVC fund is worth €25,000. Does anyone know if there is any provision in the scheme for early retirement due to ill health.
