Attic Insulation - experiences and suppliers

Hi,
I have a old house (a little cold) with 100ml of rockwool attic insulation. I have been told that upgrading to 300ml would improve things. Just wondering if anybody has had a similar job done and did it make a difference?

if so, any recommended suppliers for the Dublin/Kildare North region?

By all means increase the insulation in the attic, but have an architect look over the area first to make sure there aren't any problems which the resultant nett reduction in attic temperature might exacerbate: dry rot, wet rot, uncovered and uninsulated tank and pipes, etc. Also check if there is a foil or plastic sheet vapour barrier on the warm side of the insulation and make sure the attic is ventilated.
