Attending Structural Survey

I don't know if this is a stupid question but is it the norm to be there when a structural survey is being carried out on a home you are about to buy?

I wasn't there when mine was done - estate agent let him in.

To be honest I think you'd only be getting in the surveyor's way unless you knew what you were talking about.

True, but I have concerns about certain things in the house and I want to be sure I undertand exactly what's going on and not just get some complicated report a few days later that leaves me none the wiser

wasn't there myself... just let him know in advance the extras I wanted checked...,

Just spoke to one there and he was very helpful- said we could come along at the end and he would talk us through the whole thing.
