Just querying about the rates used by the bank when withdrawing money from
ATM's outside of Eurozone

PTSB charge 3.5% so the more you withdraw the more you pay so got stung for charges of €10
for a withdrawal over the w/e

Are the other banks the same

excuse spelling mistakes

I think that most banks' Cirrus/Plus+/Maestro ATM charges are similar. Don't you also pay forex charges in addition to any Cirrus/Plus+/Maestro ATM charges that apply? And some foreign ATMs will also levy a local charge? Any reason why you wouldn't pre-load a credit card and make cash withdrawals abroad? Usually this only incurs the forex charge of c. 1.75%+ and no other charges.

Yeah maybe it was the bank as it was in Latvia.........

Did withdraw money in USA and Africa and was not charged as much for the withdrawal

PTSB customer service never said anything about a forex charge just about the levy

Don't want to tank up the cc just for w/e city breaks maybe for a hol

Just thought with Phil Leotardo aka Billy Batts saying there are no charges just a pain in the backside

You need to clarify what the charge(s?) applied and who levied them before pointing the finger. You also need to read the terms & conditions of your account to clarify if such charges fall under the remit of any free banking service that they offer. If I recall correctly some or all "free banking" services still charge certain fees.
