My wife is a non-EU national and is now living in Ireland looking for work. She has received a PPS number and is seeking employment. I am in full-time employment and supporting both of us at present. Is she entitled to claim for job seekers benefit? I will check with the Citizen's Information Bureau too but was just wondering if anyone here had any knowledge on the topic?

As a non-EU national, your wife may also require a permit to work in Ireland. You can find information at the Immigrant Council of Ireland website.

www.immigrantcouncil.ie

In relation to signing for Jobseeker's, as Jaybird said, she has no entitlement to Jobseeker's Benefit (which is PRSI-contribution based), and if she is not eligible to work here, she can't claim Jobseeker's Allowance either (it will also be means-tested on your income).

Non-EU spouses of Irish citizens who are legally resident (Class D visa) along with a Stamp 4 immigration stamp do not require a work permit.

Check out the Irish Naturalisation and Imigration Service website (www.inis.gov.ie) for more information
